Indeed, I have several standalone DVD recorders that I use for
events where the customers get DVDs immediately after their
performances. Works great. Most recently, I got a couple of those
Sony external drives (VRD-MC3) that have a little LCD display in
the lid. Makes it easy to confirm that video is being recorded, etc.
They serve double-duty as regular external CD/DVD drives when
connected to a computer via USB.
