My father, in a professional capacity, works with different kinds of
TVs and associated technologies all day every day (and no, he doesn't
work in Currys or somesuch!). Consequently, he has numerous LCDs and
plasmas from numerous suppliers and manufacturers, and has found that
the plasma sets begin to deteriorate in display/picture quality much
faster than the LCDs - which, I think, may actually be older than the
plasmas in the first place. Not to say that the technology hasn't
improved since the sets in question were purchased of course, but the
plasmas are no more than a couple of years old each.
So personally, I'd go and have a look at some set-up and working, but
with the prices still so high for a decent quality set, I would
definitely lean towards the one likely to last better and longer: LCD.
Hope that helps!
