The likelyhood of a simple lense cleaning curing just about any DVD player
problem is pretty low.
(Unless your player is situated in an industrial environment)
I would suggest NOT buying one of the cheap lens cleaners, they generaly do
more damage than good,
in the same fashion as VCR head cleaning tapes.
The bottom line is, if you don't know anyone who can take the top off , try
a proper lense clean and then tell you just what
is really wrong with it, join the throw away society with the rest of us.

From your symptoms I would guess (from machines I've repaired) the
likelyhood is -
Lens dirty < 5%
Deteriorating laser o/p > 75%
Chance of curing through a N.G < 0%
