But Americans are used to fake frames created from film, whereas going
from NTSC to PAL you have to pick five frames to throw away each
second. Also, if you're shooting in a PAL country you may not want to
shoot NTSC if you're going to have to deal with flourescent lights and
other nasties that flicker at 50Hz or some multiple of it.

Ideally you'd probably shoot 24p or 25p and then convert that to both
PAL and NTSC.
