Your staff of lawyers are atempting to prove their inflated worth by doing
what lawyers are trained to do best - obfuscate and delay, while creating
mounds of paperwork.

I'd bet that your company's employment contracts and handbook stipulates
that employees agree to such releases in advance by accepting employment.

Just have a look at the employee handbook.
