Depends what you mean by novelty. Endless minigames waving the thing
around your head can get tiresome, but in many ways the Wii controller
is so much better for several kinds of games.

Firstly I find the combination of nunchuk and wii-mote far more
ergonomic for 'standard' gameplay than any other console; then areas
like FPS shooting at the screen, steering in driving games, hitting
things in sports, precision stuff like Mercury Meltdown & Kororinpa etc,
are just way more intuitive and involving and I think are honestly much
better ways of playing these sorts of games than with traditional
controllers.

Sorry, all that stuff was bollocks. Anyone who's let their Wii
controller go and got it through a TV screen is either a fucking
imbecile or has done it on purpose to claim on the insurance. In 6
months, not one single person playing the Wii in my house has let a
controller go, and that's including my kids and all their friends from
age 3 upwards!
