Hello all,
My name is Ian, I am from Australia, new to this group and completely
illiterate when it comes to most technological discussion. Anyway, about
three years ago I purchased a Samsung DVD-HD937 player. It includes a little
button that changes its setting from 576p to 720p to 1080i output (whatever
that means) each time you press it, and another button that switches
Progressive Scan on and off (whatever that means). I have it connected to a
61" Samsung LCD Rear Pro TV with a DVI cable thing. Yesterday, I asked the
man in the store who sold it to me whether or not this would play HD DVDs
and he said that it would. So I went out today and excitedly bought my first
ever HD DVD and, no matter what combination I try of those two little
buttons, it just doesn't seem to play. It just keeps coming up with a
message saying that it can't read the disc.
So my question is, am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong
with the DVD or does this player not actually play HD DVDs at all, despite
what the man told me?
Many thanks for any advice.
Ian
