Many thanks. Yes, you are right - I was given wrong advice. I rang Samsung
today and they confirmed that the player upscales standard DVD to a near HD
standard, rather than plays HD DVDs. I rang the salesperson to tell him, and
he was genuinely apologetic about having got it wrong. At least now he might
be able to sell me a HD DVD or Blu-Ray player!!
