Nonsense....this has been scientifically analyzed and perceptually these are
equivalent (when the compression is done right). The benefit of other
techniques is that you do not need the expertise of a compressionist...you
DO need a terrific sound crew in either case.
The video is patently NOT several times better than upconverted DVD. That
is hyperbole. The original poster is correct...it is a nice improvement,
but nothing to write home about (ps...I have high end equipment).
