I have found that 1, 2 or 3 hour settings give quite good image quality. It
takes some effort to find the deficiencies in 3 hour mode compared to
original broadcast. 2 hour mode it very similar to the format used for dvd
movies.
3 hour mode can give a 1/2 width image when played back on poorer quality
video players like windoze media player.
The longer settings give results more like vhs.
