Pansonic's pluses (for HD)? Less compression, better color. Reusable
capture medium (P2 cards)
Sony's? Cheaper capture medium ($3-20 per hour of tape depending on tape
quality). Easier archiving (put the tapes on a shelf).
Panasonic's minuses? Less compression (it means you'll need a LOT of
hard drive space to copy your files to, 1 Gb per minute of shoot time).
Expensive capture medium (16Gb P2 card = 16 minutes of shoot time = $900)
Sony? More compression on picture. Compressed sound.
Desirable accessories for each cost about the same (Century Optics WA
converter around $1000)
