In my experience, most players memorize the stop position by default.
If you want the player to forget the stop position, you are normally
prompted to press stop a second time.
I think some players do and some don't keep that memory after shutdown,
and some players have memory for more than one disc, so you could
remove a disc and still start from the stop point when you reinsert it.
This also varies among players.
If you own the player in question, you could experiment easily enough.
