 You shouldn't be without at least a good software firewall
 (Comodo is free and supposed to be good, but I'm still using my
 old Sygate one), and I wouldn't be using WinMX at all if I didn't
 also use PeerGuardian.
 
 Being online without a firewall is just asking for trouble.
