I've heard that different DVD players will play back different subsets
of available DivX files. I've recently bought a Logik LD3330 DVD
player. My only experiment so far is to download a "Star Wreck - In
the Pirkinning" DivX (http://www.starwreck.com/), which burnt to a
blank CD plays perfectly. I was surprised at this playing, as I
thought that xvid DivXs didn't play on all DVD players. I've heard
that h264 encoded files don't play on most DivX players.
How can I find out which files are likely to play on my player, other
than trial and error? I have been unable to find extensive
documentation for my player. And, given that it's a fake brand, I
can't contact the manufacturer?
All I need is a fairly good set of options for mencoder or ffmpeg so
that I can author DivX content that my player can play back.
