It isn't. You record the program you're watching to the hard disk, and then
transfer it to the DVD when you want to. Transferring is quicker than
"real-time", so instead of a 30 minute program taking 30 minutes to record
to the DVD, it takes about 8. I'm afraid that's just the way the cookie
crumbles - it's the same with most recorders, I believe. I've got a Philips
and s-i-l has an LG - both do it this way.
