Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BLOOD AND BLACK LACE: UNSLASHED
COLLECTOR'S EDITION, CAFE LUMIERE, CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT, THE DARK
CORNER, THE ESCAPIST, JUNEBUG, LADY IN WHITE, MR. SHOW: THE COMPLETE
COLLECTION, PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS, and THE ULTIMATE BILLY JACK
COLLECTION:

BLOOD AND BLACK LACE: UNSLASHED COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by Rob
Lineberger, overall score 86/100):
"Bava is known beyond the confines of the giallo for his artistic set
design and fascinating facility with the camera. If you appreciate his
work, you could do far worse than this special edition by VCI."

CAFE LUMIERE (reviewed by Joe Armenio, overall score 93/100):
"The most vivid image Hou uses is that of the commuter train, speeding
us about anonymously on our individual journeys. Hajime's hobby is
riding around with recording equipment, trying to capture some pattern
in the trains' various sounds; he also generates a computer image of
himself as a sort of fetus, wrapped in a womb of trains. (He is also
pretty clearly in love with Yoko, although he never says anything; this
unspoken fact gives an added poignance to his search for pattern and
connection.)"

CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score
80/100):
"Warner Brothers plucks a bit of Yuletide fluff from the vaults. A
shimmering print and an Academy Award-winning short on the extras menu
help compensate for a farce that stretches suspension of disbelief
beyond the tensile strength of taffy. The results are at once
pleasantly diverting and instantly forgettable -- at least until the
next Christmas season."

THE DARK CORNER (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall score 80/100):
"The Dark Corner is a film I had never heard of; it is a film I never
would have seen if I wasn't reviewing it; and it is a movie I would have
been happy to stay up until 4 a.m. to watch."

THE ESCAPIST (reviewed by Michael Rankins, overall score 75/100):
"He can escape from anything. Except this script."

JUNEBUG (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall score 90/100):
"Junebug is a lovely little movie. I try to refrain from describing
movies as 'lovely,' but really, no other word is more apt."

LADY IN WHITE (reviewed by Patrick Bromley, overall score 85/100):
"You can feel LaLoggia's unabashed affection for the project in every
frame of Lady in White, and in an age where the majority of horror films
are cold, cynical, demographic-driven machinations, that's a pretty
special thing."

MR. SHOW: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall
score 98/100):
"I think that little Mr. Show guy sums up Mr. Show. It touches you in
naughty places, with a friendly maniac grin. It burns you, then
apologizes. And it dresses very, very badly."

PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 48/100):
"Do you honestly need me to tell you this movie is bad? I didn't
think so."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/puppetmastervsdemonictoys.php

THE ULTIMATE BILLY JACK COLLECTION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 89/100):
"All marketing and distribution innovations aside, the Billy Jack
movies are a collection of quasi-classics which will continue to be
looked at in the years to come. No other movies so perfectly capture
their era, as well as the mindset of those who made them, than this
quartet of pointed political commentaries. Just like his creation, one
tin soldier still rides after all other social scoundrels have faded
away. His name is Tom Laughlin, and his movies are a primer in personal
conviction and passion."
