Idiot. There was no such thing as DVD when Platoon was released.
The Laser Disc was cheaper than the VHS product though, and the LD was
far superior, and the tapes were all fast reproduced on a wall of 25
tapes, and being recorded at 4 or 6 x. BIG quality hit!
