Chapters are automatically recorded on +/- R/RW discs at preset
intervals
depending on the disc used. The manual has a list.
RAM discs are the only ones that allow adding of chapters right where
you want them.
You can also edit RAM discs. For example, if you want to delete a
commercial,
you mark a chapter before and after the part you want to delete, then
later
you can delete the capter. The problems with RAM discs is they are
expensive,
they do not have a menu and they cannot be played on most standalone
players or
computer DVD drives. Another advantage is you can start playing the RAM
disc
while it is still recording.
