You don't mention changing the output setting in the DVD player's setup
menu when you did this. I once had a DVD player that would occasionally
forget its settings, which included reverting to composite output instead
of component, and this gives a monochrome picture on the composite output.
So, my advice is to check the player's setup menu to make sure the DVD
player still "thinks" it should be outputting on the component connection.
