Gord blimey spider you want yer cake and eat it dontcha! :-)
Alright then another Idea, I know its a bit of extra equipment to take with
you but a pair of Active (that's powered ones either from the mains or
batteries) computer speakers then put the 3.5 mini plug from the speakers
into the earphone socket of the portable DVD player then get a 3.5 stereo
plug lead to 2 phono sockets your amplified PC speakers should be the type
that has the earphone out socket (some cheaper ones might not have an
earphone out) then plug your lead into this and the other end with the round
phono sockets into your line in on your mixer. When you turn the volume
control knob on the PC speakers up this will greatly amplify the sound
coming from your portable DVD player. If you get PC speakers with Bass &
Treble knobs it would be even better. A bit of what might seem as a 'bodge
up' job but its a cheap way of getting what you want I suppose.
The only other thing I am wondering (although I haven't tried it myself) is
maybe one of those things you can get to put onto record players its called
a pre-amp I think and fits in line and will amplify the output signal from
the DVD player.
one more thing is that when I am editing my camcorder tapes sometimes I use
this camcorder Audio Mixing console its only a small little unit (made by
camlink I think) with 3 sliders on it one for Mic one for Audio and another
one for Aux and it runs on 9volt battery or mains adaptor and has 2 mic
inputs. I bet you could utilize one of those into the system and that would
work by amplifying the sound from the DVD player and you could control the
level by using the slider. I bet you could most probably pick one up in
Dixons or a camera shop (which sell camcorders) for around 20-30 euro.
Hope I have been some help.
Andy.
