My Panasonic unit started doing the same thing earlier in the year. First
it would record shows 5 minutes late, then any show scheduled to record
during the day would be skipped, then it moved to prime time. While I
previously had updated the firmware to the latest, I did it again and
surprisingly it took. I also performed a deep reset. That seemed to snap
the machine out of its coma state. Now it records everything on schedule
every time.
So that's my suggestion to you. Search on the Sony support site for the
latest firmware and try flashing the machine. Usually it involves burning
the binary to a CD-ROM and just inserting the CD into the machine. Even if
you've done this before, do it again. If there isn't new firmware, do a
deep reset of the machine. Have it pull in all new program guide
information. The user manual should have instructions on how to do a
factory reset. Or maybe somebody on the AVS forum has the procedure.
