I wonder. Is it the media? My discs are Verbatim's +R's dual-layer.
My old Apex 1201 played my dual-layer +R Verbatims. But it has
mechanical problems, and isn't a practical bit of hardware to use.
I went to Target today, and purchased a $50 Phillips DVD player
DVP-5140/37. Brought it home, plugged/cabled it up and test it. It
works on my burned DL discs!
It also plays my DivX flicks, and converts my PAL movies on-the-fly to
NTSC standard. The cheap players really do the trick. I just hope it
works for a couple of years.
