If they are enticing people to pay them 72 dollars (or whatever) for the
first year with an empty promise of a second year free then they surely
can be said to have cheated the person out of that 72 dollars.
Howsomever, I've rarely seen this sort of post made to usenet when there
wasn't some "back story" that was conveniently being left out, like a
violation of a TOS or an expired credit card or some other thing. Yahoo
has been offering this "deal" for some time if this guy is already due
his second (free) year. If it were a false promise I'm pretty sure
there would be some sort of general uproar not just one isolated post on
a newsgroup claiming foul and using the evil corporate empire rhetoric.
