Does anyone know how online stores mass-produce MP3s and other formats? Do
they actually have people ripping CDs or do record companies provide master
files of some type? I've wondered if there are odd glitches customers have
found, and if CDs are ripped (if at all) at a very high speed. How do they
handle gapless tracks?

P.S. I just bought some tracks from Amazon.com (DRM-free). They are using
LAME 3.97 VBR, per AudioShell (mouse hover). Sound quality is as good as
can be expected.
