Second the recommendation to get all songs into your itunes folder.

you can use yamipod to browse and pull the songs from ipod ontou your
home pc. add them to your itunes library, then sync.

itunes doesnt like you spreading your tracks over various pc's and
then allowing you to sync both ways on any pc (for quite logical
commercial reasons!!)
