Are they free? I too bought a machine with no burning software, I think
they assumed since it came with winxp installed I could use that. Bad
choice.
I used to use burn4free, there are many others but that one did work
well. I got record now with an external burner so now use that.
For ripping and conversion, I like dbpoweramp (there may be a very small
fee for mp3 lame useage). Again, there are many others.
If you simply want to duplicate cd's, use the copy function of the
burning software.
