Just for purposes of comparison, what was its predecessor?

Can you post a frame-grab image?
Is it there all the time (even with lens capped)?
Does the green square happen from ALL outputs?
Is it there on the tape if you use the recording function?

Are you using an analog output? or digital?

Optical zoom? Or did you let it go into "digital zoom"?
