Not on that particular camera but it's not uncommon for the internal lens
elements to be jarred and drop out of position.
It may simply be a massive back focus problem or an actual lens broken
issue.
Eitehr way it's not going to be cheap. Backfocus can be adjusted if you dig
in deep but a mechanical lens problem will almost certainly require a
replacement.
I'd go for the Sony fixed price repair. I suspect in your case you'd be
getting a bargin.
