What is the model of your Panasonic recorder? Do you have the manual and
IR Blaster that came with the recorder? According to the DMR-E85H manual,
the unit is compatible with cable boxes and satellite receivers.
Your DirecTV box needs to have an RF out jack which you connect to the RF
in of the recorder. Also connect the a/v outputs of the DirecTV box to L3
of the recorder (do not use L1). Connect the IR Blaster to the G-Link
terminal of the recorder and place the IR Blaster under the receiver box as
is described in the manual.
Go through the TVGuide setup, specifying that you are using a cable box.
If you do it all correct, turn off the recorder and wait a day. Sometimes
it takes 2 days. You should get a TVGuide lineup.
