Nobody ever claimed that the light source is the root cause of color
inaccuracy in LCDs, but it is a major hurdle LCD manufactures has yet to
jump over. We both know that there are other issues that make an LCD
monitor a poor choice over CRT. If/when LCD manufacturers develop a
spectrally pure and linear light source they will have 90% of their problems
solved. Then they can start working on economical designs that can increase
reliability and longevity. Right now, compared to a CRT, the LCD is nothing
more than an overpriced novelty.
