Nothing I can think of that very many people here would
recognize - the ones I know of were very specialized,
niche-market displays produced for such things as medical
imaging, miltary (ruggedized) use, etc.. The technology in
question is the so-called "dispenser" cathode, in which the
electron gun structure includes what's basically a little reservoir
of the material which is used to form the cathode's emitting
surface, such that the surface can be replenished as it's used
up. You can extend the MTHB of a CRT up into the 30-50k
hour range using this sort of thing, but it IS rather costly and
rare.
