I don't know that particular one, but don't see why you shouldn't
spend that sort of money on an amp, provided that:
(a) you can afford to do so; and
(b) it has the features (including, of course, good sound quality)
that you want.
I spent £1,000 on my present AV amp (Denon AVR 3805) three or four
years ago, and don't regret it.
Mind you, I'd be inclined to go for Denon/Onkyo/Yamaha ahead of
Pioneer if I was buying an amp. That's not to say that Pioneer aren't
good (I've had favourable experiences of their kit in the past), but
that others might be better, and give you more for your money. I see
that that particular Pioneer only gets four stars in What Hi-Fi's
table.
