My sony RDR-GX300 (been used to burn about 1 hour a day for the past
year 1/2) is starting to act up. Mostly on +RW's. I keep getting
"disk is dirty" notices when trying to record or finalize. Sometimes
won't format a disk and I can take the disk out and put it back in, and
it will then format and record ok. (maxell, sony, memorex) Sometimes
they will work 2 times and not a third.
Anyway, I live on a dirt road and was thinking about a cleaning disk.
I can not do it the old fassion way with a Qtip because the drive is
sealed and under the main big circuit board. I would have to
dissasemble the entire thing just to get to it. Since it still works on
oneshots so far, I don't want to mess with that.
I know that most manufacurers say not to use the cleaners. Is there a
technical reason? did they make the lens out of soft plastic or
something? Or do they just want to make money on factory cleanings and
repairs?
Which one of the cleaners would be the best for my machine?
TIA, mes.
