True. And from what I hear, in version 11, Windows Media Player finally
has a decent MP3 encoder.

I wouldn't even recommend version 10 or earlier. "Out of the box", they
don't support MP3, and the MP3 encoders you have to go to the effort to
set up with WMP just aren't worth it.

So yeah, Windows Media Player 11 is a viable option.
