I have been using double layer DVD+R media and they tested all OK on PC
player, and on the stand alone player and the DVD recorder.
Now I went out of media, so I bought more of the SAME brand, at the SAME
shop, for the SAME price (Nashua DVD+R double layer) and all at once the
written media will not play anywhere, exept in the burner where it was made
(and verified!)
I did notice a difference already while burning in Nero: the first (good)
batch could only be written at 2.4 speed, while the troublesome batch seems
to have a choice of up to 8 speed. (I still chose 2.4 speed). Actually I
dont give a damn about what speed it uses, al long as I get a compatible
copy for all players in the end.
So there still seems to be no way to be sure in the compatibility shambles
of (seeming) identical media...
a very frustrated user.
