Howdy folks-
This may be a real dumb question, and maybe it's been answered 1000 times already, but
I'm new to this DVD recorder stuff, and while trying to find an answer I ran across this
newsgroup.
It seems that my DVD recorder (Samsung DVD-VR357) will only record on blank, unformatted
DVD RWs right out of the box. Once I've recorded on the disk with my computer, I can no
longer record on or format the disk with the DVD recorder, even if I erase the disk in my
computer first. The recorder will PLAY stuff that I put on the disk with my computer, but not
RECORD any more. I get a "menu not available" message.
I even put a brand new disk into the recorder and recorded on it, then tried to copy the disk
to another with my computer. But when I put the copy in the recorder, it still wouldn't record
on or format it.
What's the story here? Is there some way I can format my old DVD RW disks with my
computer so that they will record in my DVD recorder? Or do I have to have two separate
sets of DVD RWs- one for my computer and one for the DVD recorder? Is this a common
problem or is it specific to this particular DVD recorder?
Any explanation or assistance would be highly appreciated.
