Right-click My Computer & choose Properties > Advanced > Performace.
Make sure the swap file is big enough - I usually set it to "system
managed".
512meg seems to be a little tight for XP these days - 768meg or 1024meg
(1gig) can make a noticeable difference & you may be surprised how
cheaply you can get RAM for at the moment.
