I remember DVDExpress.com <holy chorus! :) > literally giving discount
coupons away with every other order--
Back in the '98-'99 days, when DVD was still an expensive and relatively
unknown...what's that expression that's all the rage?--oh, yeah, "Niche
market"--and DVD users had to unite themselves with far-flung
online-niche Internet oases like that new "Netflix" thing, that they
couldn't find in their own hometown.

And then June '99 hit, DiVX surrendered, the national starting-pistol
fired, and the studio announcements came thick and fast, a good four
months before DVD players became the new Wii for that year's big holiday
store-trample....

All it takes is a war to be over. Things change REAL fast after that.
