The OP isn't even on my news server anymore, so it's unclear that
responding to such an old message would be of any use to the original
poster ... but anyway, it's well known that these players were capable of
both NTSC and PAL video output. If the player is set to display PAL on an
NTSC television, the picture may be in black/white and rolling. changing
the video output to the correct system can fix that.
