It seems that RIAA has forced WinMX to shut down their peer cache
servers. This means that you will no longer be able to find other
primary user and the network quickly collapses.
While there may eventually be tweaks that allow for alternative means
to find other primary peers, for the moment the WinMX network is dead.
It took me about an hour to discover how to use the opennap functions
in WinMX.
Read the instructions here:
http://www.slyck.com/winmx.php
You will need a .wsx file to get started, and you can download one
here:
http://www.gotnap.com/servers.wsx
After you have connected, you can search for new .wsx files.
Open Nap using WinMx is not as good as the WinMx peer network, but it
keeps the process rolling.
