Yes, I can download from other users. I'm looking for anything that I
can find to fix this, but is it really my connection? My connection
works fine with Shareaza (it used to work fine with the WinMX
network). The problem seems to be with WinMX and its network (with
hosts file) and also with the OpenNap protocol. Everyone times out
even when I set the timeouts on uploads to the maximum (300 seconds).
What I'm seeing is lots of attempts to upload, not just a few. Each
of the networks I've connected to has plenty of users (3000-6000+).
Almost Bob's network file has many fast networks on it (you can tell
by how fast these upload my file list with 3000-4000 files).
I don't know enough about this subject to fix it! That's why I
suggested that BOTH ends may need the same (or similar?) hosts file so
we'd both be using the same hosts. You've seen some uploads work so
other computers don't have this problem (alas, every computer is
different from every other one).
It will take someone much more knowledgable than me to fix it...
