I'm not sure what you mean by dcd. What people are doing is ripping
their DVDs to MP4 and AVC, then watching them from big Memory Stick Pro
Duo cards (512 MB-1 GB). UMDs are about 1.8 GB capacity, so I imagine
when the 2 GB MS comes out and lowers in price, people will get those
and get quality close to retail UMDs.
I've done rips of a few of my DVDs and try to get the highest settings
possible for under 950 MB (the capacity of my 1 GB MS). I'm extremely
pleased with the outcome. There is very little pixelation and great
clarity. I've heard AVC encodings are slightly better and use less
space, though I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.
There are also these products which let you do direct encoding to MS
from an AV source.
