On January 10th, the Paris District Court ruled against Warner
Music's DRM measures included on the "Testify" CD from Phil
Collins. The court fined the music company 59,50 euros for the
plaintiff's damages and an additional 5000 euros as a punitive fine.
In addition and what is most important to the consumer, is that Warner
is now forbidden to use a DRM measure if it prohibits the purchaser
from making copies.

Probe may delay change in digital-music prices
Spitzer's investigation marks the second time in recent years that the
big labels have been under a legal microscope specifically for their
digital-music dealings. (They've also settled CD price-fixing charges
with the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general, and two
labels have settled with Spitzer's office over payola charges.)

Radio Conglomerates Eyed in 'Payola' Probe
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer said Wednesday he has
subpoenaed many of the nation's largest radio conglomerates in his

air time because of payoffs by recording companies.
"A lot of the major songs have been implicated in this and it showed
how pervasive the payola infrastructure had become," Spitzer told The
Associated Press.

So maybe instead of the "grammy" awards they should be called
the "PAYOLA Awards" because that's the only reason you even know they
exist. Payola is illegal. So is Price Fixing. Two methods of the
RIAA (and member companies) business model.
Price Fixing is when they steal money from YOU.
Those are some of the newest stories I know of.
Stories of the RIAA and MPAA and their CRIMINAL business practices.
Why do you continue to support them and claim they are "legitimate" in
any way ?
If musicians or actors are working with criminals then they are
criminal collaborators (not to be supported) .
They are not, in any way "legitimate".
They are criminal because of their payola and price fixing , just for a
start.
They are not the "music business" , they are the "criminals of the
music business".
But what's really criminal is their crappy music and movies , the
garbage the RIAA and MPAA puts out should be against the law.

Stop Paying for Ring Tones (see story link)
http://www.wired.com/news/columns/0,70150-0.html?tw=wn_index_22
Criminal Record labels love it when fans buy a ring tone of a song they
already own -- the industry claims $4 billion in ring-tone sales to
date. But in fairness, you shouldn't have to pay separately just to
hear your CD tracks or acquired MP3s as ring tones.
Putting a snippet of a CD track or MP3 file on your phone is actually
very straightforward -- not to mention FREE , if you already own the
song , Following is a step-by-step guide.
