I didn't read the book (or alas see the Rutger Haur movie you mentioned in
the other post -as far as I can remember). I really only know about him from
stuff like the World At War series and other documentaries.

There is a good part in this movie that is almost like that -where Speer
tells Hitler some stuff he could have decided not to, but ends up only
increasing the ambiguity of his motives (to my mind).
