Why are (all) mediaplayers usb2

Posted by omtslug on 09/26/05 19:26

Hi.
Could someone give me a nice solution to get any of these nice gadgets
to work using ethernet network.

freecom, rapsody, modix, mediagate (no display), tvix (no display)

These external hard drives looks very nice, I could have it as 'media
center' to listen to mp3 and view video WITHOUT the need for a
streaming pc.
My problem is that I cannot use usb between my pc and this device and I
want a player with a display.

There are nas devices to connect them to a network but far too
overpriced for my needs. Anything cheaper?

Any comments / experiences with these regarding networking, display
etc. I don't wanna carry it to my pc..
Does everyone accept that it's usb? For me it seems very strange, how
hard can a tcp/ip stack be, it's already some linux in them...

/Stefan, Sweden.
