thanx for keeping us posted. i can't wait to hear the results.
i managed to come across another issue with the hmdi showing mpg or avi
files you can't use ez zoom, and it just so happens that most of the mpgs
appear at the wrong aspect ratio on hdmi, and at least my pioneer plasma
can't use the "cinema" zoom mode on hdmi, you have "full" or "wide" only. so
to play mpgs and avis properly i've connected a scart to the plasmas media
box, and switch over to scart for viewing those files. its a bit of a pain
as its more switching on both the dvd player and tv, but it resolves the
issue as it lets me use the cinema zoom on the tv that way
perhaps if you get the chance to speak to them again you could mention you
can't use ez zoom (seeming at all, although the manual says you can't use it
occasionally, suggesting it works at some point), and see if they are able
to do something with that in a firmware update. if they solved those little
problems, and perhaps the manual switching (and having to stop the disc to
do it), it would be an almost faultless machine operations wise
i just managed to get scart leads for both my dreamcast and ps1 today at
cheapo prices so plugged those into the plasma. i haven't played computer
games in about 5 years! certainly not long after the dreamcast came out, and
soul caliber on a 50" plasma looks cracking. i just need my mate to bring
back the other games i loaned him ages ago as i have the keyboard and mouse
to play doom and the stearing wheel for the racing games (which i'm dying to
try). but for tonights entertainment it's the new criterion edition of the
man who fell to earth, the fourth different edition i have!
