In the US, the *millions* of HDTV recorders that already exist will make
it possible. The fact that the signal can't be encrypted will make it
possible for even longer. The fact that the broadcast flag doesn't address
recording in any way will make it possible.

You need to take off the tinfoil hat for a while and learn about the how
things really work.
