I'm new to the world of DVD recording, but I've done my research and leaning
towards buying a Sumvision SV-1001. Can anybody give me a valid reason not
to buy one?
Am I right in saying it's a multi-region player out of the box? And it can
record a 16:9 RGB signal (from a Sky box or whatever)? Are there any brands
of media that work particularly well/don't work at all (I know it's +R(W)
only)?
The only drawback I can see is backing up my pre-recorded VHS tapes - are we
any nearer a macrovision hack? I couldn't find one on videohelp.com. I'm
sure there's a way around this, though. Any other major issues I need to
know about before I buy?
Just the one more question: where can I pick this up cheapest? Unless I'm
going mad, it's no longer listed on svp.co.uk.
So many questions! Sorry for being so tedious, and thanks in advance for any
help.
