I have a Mac but I'm assuming iTunes acts pretty much the same on
Windows.
At first, having come from Windows and Winamp I found iTunes a complete
dog to work with, but having given it a chance it makes a lot of sense
IMHO.
You can tell iTunes not to import your songs into your library, in which
case it leaves them where they are on your hard drive and iTunes just
points to them, or you can have it import the music and organise it in
its own folder structure which is usually an Artist folder, then an
Album subfolder, then the tracks.
The nice thing (IMHO) is that it does all this on the fly and if you
change the track/id3 info in iTunes the folder names are changed on the
fly.
The only downside of course is that music without ID3 tags can be poorly
organised.
Ultimately it comes down to personal preference, but I'd suggest give it
a try and a chance for a while and you might like it.
cheers,
Paul
