Urn... To be honest I'm not entirely certain on that either.

But you _can_ get DVI without HDCP I know and you can get HDMI-DVI
converters (and vice versa), so I would imagine that HDCP cannot be a part
of the spec... although I haven't seen (or looked for) HDMI sets without
HDCP.
